I know, I know, it's October! But we just had to run away to the beach for the day...
We drove west for about a half hour and voila!
How can we be so lucky...you would have thought we were in the south of France, but no!
Only one thing would have made this an ideal day - Monday is the day all the businesses close since they worked hard all weekend catering to the hungry and thirsty tourists. But, nevertheless, we had a marvelous time strolling along the waterfront.

The sand is very fine and easy to walk on, in fact the closer we got to the water, where it is generally easier to walk on the Oregon Coast, it becomes softer here at the Atlantic Ocean! But what fun to explore the tide pools! We spied oysters and mussels basking in the sun. Look up above the walls in this photo and you can just make out a white building - it turns out to be a new house built right there and we thought they had just been very careful to maintain the white wash...silly us!

So after a stroll up to the town square and a light meal at one of only three bistros open, we saw fog roll in and it became cool! So much for the Indian Summer here...we hope for sunny days as we venture out on our October tour of France.
